O R Tambo District Municipality

O.R. Tambo District Municipality is situated along the eastern side of the Eastern Cape Province. It is regarded as one of the tourist attractions of South Africa. This is mainly due to the fact that it lies along the coastline of the Indian Ocean for up to 160km. This coastline mainly consists of indigenous greenery.

O.R. Tambo District Municipality further takes prides in being the birthplace of two prominent leaders of the liberation movement in South Afica. It is here that both Nelson Rolihlalhla Mandela and Oliver Reginald Tambo (popularly known as O.R.) grew up facing the harshest economic realities of life i.e. hunger and poverty which led them to take up arms and be two of the outstanding leaders of the country.
